£5m MoD contract secured for cyber security client

Client Objectives

We led the end-to-end bid for a cyber security client pursuing a major Ministry of Defence opportunity valued at £5m. Our engagement covered bid planning, storyboarding, bid writing, bid management, and commercial negotiations. The client required a partner capable of delivering a competitive submission against a strong field of established defence suppliers, with the analytical depth to differentiate their response on both quality and price.

A cyber security provider sought to secure a high-value Ministry of Defence contract representing a significant strategic win in the defence sector. The client needed a bid partner capable of combining traditional bid management discipline with advanced analytical techniques to maximise both quality scoring and pricing competitiveness within the published evaluation methodology.

Outcome

(1) Secured the £5m Ministry of Defence contract, delivering a transformational commercial win for the client and establishing them as a credible supplier within the defence cyber security market.

(2) Achieved an overall quality score of 90/100, the result of a rigorously evidenced and tightly written response informed by simulated scoring against the published evaluation criteria.

(3) Conducted a complex competitor scenario modelling exercise, profiling all known competitors across resource base, capability maps, and relevant case study evidence. We ran simulations to estimate likely competitor scores, using the output to identify where our client could outscore the field and where defensive responses were required.

(4) Ran a simulated financial scoring exercise to estimate competitor pricing positions, calibrating our client's price against the tender's evaluation methodology to optimise the balance between commercial competitiveness and margin protection.

(5) Built an AI model used to conduct simulated scoring of our own draft responses. The output directly informed iterative redrafting, lifting the quality of written responses and contributing to the final 90/100 quality score.

(6) Delivered full bid management throughout, including storyboarding, response drafting, internal review cycles, compliance assurance, and commercial negotiations through to contract award.
