Framework Description
APUC's Automatic Doors and Roller Shutters framework covers the installation, servicing and repair of automatic doors and roller shutters on university and college estates. It is split into seven geographic lots: two in Scotland and five covering England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The current term ends on 14 January 2027, with an option to extend by 12 months to 14 January 2028. This framework is used by APUC, SUPC and NWUPC.
Context & Use Case
Estates and facilities teams use it for planned maintenance, reactive repairs, replacement doors and new installations on entrances, loading bays and stores. The lots cover regions across the UK as well as Scotland, so buyers can find suppliers with engineers nearby, which helps with servicing contracts that need regular site visits.

Who Can Apply
Suits automatic door and shutter installers and maintenance contractors with engineers in the relevant region. Applications for this framework are closed, so new suppliers cannot join until it is re-tendered, likely before 14 January 2027, or a year later if extended. When it is, bidding for the lots where your engineers are based is the realistic route in.
Buyer Benefits
Faulty automatic doors affect accessibility and security, so estates teams need contractors who can respond quickly in their area. Regional lots give buyers suppliers with local engineers, and pre-agreed terms let them set up planned maintenance or emergency call-out arrangements without a full tender.
Next Steps
Appointed contractors should make sure estates teams in their region know they hold a lot. Others should check Public Contracts Scotland (original notice APR503562) and APUC's framework page: with the term ending in January 2027, a replacement may be advertised soon unless the extension is taken. Prepare response-time data, accreditations and regional case studies.
How Athena Can Help
Regional facilities frameworks are often decided on response times and local coverage, and Athena can help you prove both. Our bid management support covers method statements, compliance checks and a Bid Health Check before you submit.
If you are targeting the next tender, our framework registrations team will help you choose lots that match your engineer base and prepare the evidence. For firms new to public contracts, our public sector bidding guidance starts with whether to bid at all.
