Cleaning Equipment

Live

Framework Description

Cleaning Equipment (SXL 0523) is a Scotland Excel framework agreement made available to APUC member institutions. It has two lots, one for the supply and delivery of cleaning equipment and associated products, and one for maintenance and repair. The current term ends on 12 May 2027, with an option to extend by 12 months to 12 May 2028.

Context & Use Case

Facilities and cleaning teams use it to replace floor scrubbers, vacuum cleaners and other machines, and to keep existing equipment serviced and repaired. Splitting supply and maintenance into separate lots means an institution can keep its current machines on a service contract while buying new kit separately. Universities share the agreement with councils across Scotland.

Scope of Services

Supply and delivery of cleaning equipment and associated products Maintenance and repair of cleaning equipment and associated products Floor cleaning machines, such as scrubbers and polishers Industrial and commercial vacuum cleaners Carpet cleaning equipment and pressure washers

Lots

Supply & Delivery of Cleaning Equipment & Associated Products; Maintenance & Repair of Cleaning Equipment & Associated Products

Who Can Apply

Suits manufacturers and distributors of commercial cleaning machinery, and service companies that maintain and repair it. Applications for this framework are closed, so suppliers not already appointed cannot join until Scotland Excel re-tenders, likely around 12 May 2027 or a year later if extended.

Buyer Benefits

Cleaning machines are a recurring capital cost, and downtime affects building hygiene. Buyers value the separate maintenance lot because it gives them qualified repairers on agreed rates, while the supply lot provides set prices for new machines and consumables without running a procurement each time.

Next Steps

Appointed suppliers should make sure university facilities teams know SXL 0523 is available to them. Others should monitor Scotland Excel's procurement schedule and Public Contracts Scotland (original notice JUN506738), choose whether to bid for supply, maintenance or both, and prepare engineer coverage and response-time evidence ahead of 2027 or 2028.

How Athena Can Help

On a framework with a dedicated maintenance lot, service levels decide many awards. Athena's help writing bids shows buyers your response times and engineer coverage with evidence, backed by a final compliance check.

Suppliers aiming for the re-tender can use our framework registration consultants to choose the right lot and prepare the application. Our public sector bid support also covers pricing machines and service rates so the offer is competitive and profitable.
