Domestic Furniture and Furnishings

Live

Framework Description

Domestic Furniture and Furnishings is a Scotland Excel framework agreement made available to APUC member institutions. It has three lots: new furniture, reuse furniture and furniture kit-out. Applications for this framework are closed, and it runs to 10 June 2029, with no extension option, so it has more than two and a half years left.

Context & Use Case

Councils use it to furnish housing, while universities and colleges can use it for student residences and other accommodation. The kit-out lot suits buyers that want a property furnished in one order, and the reuse lot supports circular economy goals by supplying reused furniture rather than new. Universities share the agreement with councils across Scotland.

Scope of Services

New furniture Reuse furniture Furniture kit-out Student accommodation furniture such as beds, wardrobes, desks and seating

Lots

New Furniture; Reuse Furniture; Furniture Kit Out

Who Can Apply

Suits domestic furniture manufacturers and distributors, furniture reuse organisations and social enterprises, and kit-out providers. Applications for this framework are closed, so suppliers not already appointed cannot join until Scotland Excel re-tenders it, likely ahead of 10 June 2029.

Buyer Benefits

Buyers furnishing many rooms need durable furniture that meets fire safety standards, delivered and assembled to schedule. A Scotland Excel agreement provides that at agreed prices, and the reuse lot helps institutions and councils cut waste and carbon while saving money.

Next Steps

Appointed suppliers should make sure university accommodation teams know the framework is open to them. Others have time before the 2029 re-tender: read the Public Contracts Scotland notice (JUL533946), decide which lot fits, and build evidence on fire safety compliance, durability, reuse and delivery capacity.

How Athena Can Help

Accommodation fit-outs are often decided on delivery, durability and sustainability. Athena's quality and compliance checks make sure your responses to buyers' requirements evidence these clearly.

With the re-tender some way off, our long-range framework planning lets you build the evidence the next Scotland Excel tender will need. Social enterprises and reuse organisations new to tendering can use our first-time public sector bidding support to decide which opportunities fit and how to price them.
