Framework Description
Healthcare Student Uniforms is a framework let by NHS National Services Scotland and made available to APUC member institutions. It supplies uniforms for students on healthcare courses who wear clinical workwear on placement. It is a fixed framework, not a DPS, running to 30 November 2027 with an option to extend by 24 months to 30 November 2029.
Context & Use Case
Scottish universities and colleges training nurses, midwives and allied health professionals use it to kit out students for clinical placements. Buying through an NHS-let agreement helps institutions align student uniforms with what students will wear in NHS settings. Orders tend to follow intake cycles, with large volumes needed before each cohort starts placements.
Scope of Services
Standard and bespoke uniforms for healthcare students Styles and sizes for diverse student cohorts Uniforms meeting health and safety standards for clinical training Branding and customisation to institutional identity Fitting, alterations and delivery

Who Can Apply
Suits manufacturers and distributors of healthcare workwear with capacity for seasonal, high-volume orders and wide size ranges. Applications for this framework are closed, so new suppliers cannot join until NHS National Services Scotland re-tenders it, around 30 November 2027 or later if the extension to November 2029 is used.
Buyer Benefits
Institutions buy through an agreement let by NHS National Services Scotland, the body that procures for NHS Scotland, which gives confidence the garments suit clinical settings. They avoid running their own tender for a recurring, intake-driven purchase and can plan orders around student start dates with suppliers who already deliver at volume.
Next Steps
With the end date on 30 November 2027 and up to two years of extension available, re-tender timing is uncertain. Watch NHS National Services Scotland's procurement notices and APUC's catalogue for news on the extension. Meanwhile, build evidence on fabric standards, laundering for infection control, sizing ranges and delivery performance at peak intake periods.
How Athena Can Help
As applications for this NHS-let framework are closed, the work for suppliers outside it is preparation. We use bid/no-bid decision tools to judge whether a National Services Scotland re-tender is worth the investment, then our framework pipeline service plans the certificates, policies and case studies you will need.
Appointed suppliers can use our bid writers and pricing specialists to sharpen responses to university orders and competitions, and to price high-volume, seasonal demand accurately, with a Bid Health Check before each submission.
