Framework Description
CHIC's Compliance framework gives its housing members access to water hygiene and asbestos management specialists. Lot 1 (Water Hygiene) has nine appointed suppliers and Lot 2 (Asbestos Management) has fifteen. CHIC is a procurement consortium for social housing providers. It was awarded on 23 March 2021 and expires on 16 November 2026, with no extension.
Context & Use Case
Housing associations and council landlords use it for their ongoing statutory duties. Under Lot 1 that means Legionella control, monitoring and remedial work in communal water systems. Under Lot 2 it means asbestos surveys and management advice. Work can be programmed, such as routine monitoring, or reactive after a failed test or a find during repairs.
Scope of Services
Lot 1: Water Hygiene, including Legionella monitoring and remedial works Lot 2: Asbestos Management, including surveys and advice Compliance reporting to landlords Programmed and reactive compliance work
Lots
Lot 1 - Water Hygiene; Lot 2 - Asbestos Management
Who Can Apply
Water treatment and Legionella control companies and asbestos surveying consultancies with recognised accreditation. Applications for this framework are closed and it expires on 16 November 2026, so new suppliers cannot join. The next opportunity will be any re-procurement by CHIC.
Buyer Benefits
Landlords get accredited specialists for two high-risk compliance areas without running separate tenders. A single route makes monitoring, reporting and remedial work consistent across their homes, which supports the compliance evidence that boards and regulators expect. Two lots also mean water and asbestos work each go to genuine specialists.
Next Steps
Register as a supplier through CHIC's website so you hear about future procurements. Prepare UKAS or other relevant accreditation details, sample compliance reports and housing case studies. Appointed suppliers should complete outstanding programmes before 16 November 2026 and gather performance data to reuse in any new tender.
