Framework Description
F/103 is the national framework for teleradiology, telepathology and telemedicine services, reference F/103/TTTPSR/25/AB, hosted by Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust under the Provider Selection Regime. It replaces the earlier F/083 framework and has three lots, including radiology workflow management systems. It runs to 15 June 2029, with no extension option.
Context & Use Case
NHS organisations in England and Wales use F/103 to add diagnostic capacity, manage routine, urgent or specialist workload and reduce backlogs in radiology, pathology and other areas of medicine. Teleradiology covers reporting, telepathology covers interpretation of digital slides, and Lot 3 lets buyers acquire systems to manage radiology reporting workflow. Awards follow the Provider Selection Regime.
Scope of Services
Lot 1: Teleradiology and Telemedicine Services Lot 2: Telepathology Services Lot 3: Radiology Workflow Management Systems Integration with hospital PACS, RIS and EPR
Lots
Lot 1 - Teleradiology and Telemedicine Services; Lot 2 - Telepathology Services; Lot 3 - Radiology Workflow Management Systems
Who Can Apply
Suits teleradiology companies, digital pathology reporting services, telemedicine providers and radiology workflow software vendors with strong clinical and information governance. Applications for F/103 are closed, so providers not appointed cannot join until it is re-procured, likely before 15 June 2029.
Buyer Benefits
Radiology and pathology backlogs delay diagnosis and treatment. F/103 gives trusts a single compliant route to remote reporting and the systems to manage it. Buyers value consultant-led governance, fast turnaround, out-of-hours cover, sub-specialty expertise and secure integration with their imaging systems.
Next Steps
Appointed providers should prepare for call-offs with turnaround data, governance evidence, reporter qualifications and integration examples for PACS, RIS and EPR. Others should note the 15 June 2029 end date, watch the COCH CPS healthcare frameworks page and Find a Tender for the successor, and in the meantime bid for trusts' direct reporting contracts to build NHS references.
How Athena Can Help
Most national remote reporting work now runs through F/103, so appointed providers need to win call-offs. Athena's bid team for diagnostic services presents turnaround and governance evidence clearly, and our PSR bid guidance explains how trusts weigh quality, value and access when selecting providers.
For providers outside F/103, our framework pipeline planning maps when it and similar diagnostic frameworks reopen, and we prepare and compliance-check the application well ahead of the deadline.
