Building Materials, Tools and Hardware Supplies

Live

Framework Description

Crescent Purchasing Consortium's Building Materials, Tools and Hardware Supplies framework (tender reference CPC/EK/01/2022) is a re-tendered agreement that lets CPC members buy building materials, hand and power tools, and fixings at a discount to market prices. It has four lots: building materials, tools and hardware, timber, and a one-stop shop. It runs from 19 February 2023 to 18 February 2027, with no extension. This framework is used by Crescent Purchasing and NWUPC.

Context & Use Case

Maintenance and estates teams at schools, colleges and universities use it to keep their in-house trades supplied for repairs and small works. Members can award directly where the framework terms cover their needs, or run a further competition among the suppliers on a lot. CPC advises checking lead times with suppliers before going out to quote.

Scope of Services

Lot 1: Building materials, such as bricks, roofing materials and plasterboard Lot 2: Tools and hardware supplies, including hand and power tools and fixings Lot 3: Timber supplies Lot 4: One stop shop

Lots

Lot 1 Building Materials; Lot 2 Tools & Hardware Supplies; Lot 3 Timber Supplies; Lot 4 One Stop Shop

Who Can Apply

Builders' merchants, tool distributors and hardware suppliers able to deliver to education sites. Applications for this framework are closed, so suppliers not appointed cannot join until the re-tender, which is likely around 18 February 2027.

Buyer Benefits

Discounted prices compared with buying off the shelf, and supplier accounts already in place, let small estates teams order quickly. Covering tools as well as materials in one agreement reduces the number of suppliers to manage, and CPC's oversight gives assurance that the route is compliant.

Next Steps

With the framework ending on 18 February 2027, watch CPC's contracting pipeline for the re-tender. Decide which lots fit your range, and prepare product catalogues and pricing, lead times and delivery coverage for education sites, account management arrangements and references from education or public sector customers.

How Athena Can Help

With this framework ending in February 2027, preparation for the re-tender starts now. Athena's bid team for supply contracts can model basket pricing, write the delivery and account management answers and check your submission is compliant.

We can also look further afield. Our route-to-market planning identifies other education, housing and public sector materials frameworks to apply for, and our tendering help for suppliers covers decisions on which lots to bid.
