Doorsets, Fire Doors and Communal Entrance Doors (C8)

Live

Framework Description

Doorsets, Fire Doors and Communal Entrance Doors (C8) is an LHC Procurement Group framework for the supply and installation of entrance doors, fire doors, communal entrance and exit doors, and access control. It is available to local authorities, social landlords and other public sector bodies, and runs until 30 April 2027 with no extension. It is a framework with six workstreams, not a DPS, and applications for it are closed. This framework is used by LHC Procurement Group and SWPA.

Context & Use Case

Buyers use C8 for multi-occupancy residential blocks, whether low, medium or high rise, and for public buildings such as schools and colleges, council offices, and police and fire authority buildings. Typical projects include replacing flat entrance doors with certified fire doorsets, upgrading communal entrances, and adding remote access control to new communal doors.

Scope of Services

Workstream 1: composite doors Workstream 2: composite fire doors (third-party certified FD30 or FD60 doorsets) Workstream 3: timber doors Workstream 4: timber fire doors (third-party certified FD30 or FD60 doorsets) Workstream 5: steel and aluminium communal entrance doors Workstream 6: access control installations

Who Can Apply

Suits door manufacturers and installers, fire door specialists and access control installers working in housing and public buildings. Applications for C8 are closed, so firms not already appointed cannot join until it is re-tendered, which is likely around its 30 April 2027 end date.

Buyer Benefits

Fire door failures in occupied blocks carry serious safety risk, so buyers value whole doorsets certified to FD30 or FD60 after bi-directional fire testing, supplied and fitted by assessed companies. One framework covering standard doors, fire doors, communal entrances and access control lets a landlord deliver a whole block programme through one route.

Next Steps

Appointed companies should pursue call-offs in their workstreams and build case studies from installations in occupied blocks. Others should follow LHC's C8 framework page for news of the replacement ahead of April 2027, decide which workstreams they can evidence, and gather third-party fire door certification, installer competence evidence and housing and public building references now.

How Athena Can Help

With applications for C8 closed until it is re-tendered, Athena helps door suppliers prepare early. Our fire door framework applications service plans the bid for its replacement, helps you choose the right workstreams and maps other door frameworks opening over the next 6–12 months.

Fire door tenders are scored on certification and installation quality, so evidence matters. Our bid writing and a Bid Health Check make that evidence clear for appointed companies bidding for call-offs, and our public sector bid advice helps you decide which projects to pursue.
