Costs Lawyer Services 2

Live

Framework Description

RM6284 Costs Lawyer Services 2 is a Government Commercial Agency (GCA, formerly Crown Commercial Service) framework that started on 25 July 2023 and runs to 24 July 2027, with no extension. It replaces RM6137 Cost Lawyer Services and gives public sector bodies access to qualified costs lawyers across England and Wales through three lots, including specialist clinical negligence and security-cleared work.

Context & Use Case

Public bodies involved in litigation, whether paying or receiving costs, use it for expert advice on legal fees, the costs of bringing or defending claims, and other parties' costs. Typical buyers include government legal teams and NHS bodies dealing with clinical negligence claims. Call-offs are made by direct award or further competition in all lots.

Scope of Services

Lot 1: General Costs Law Services Lot 2: Clinical Negligence Specialist Services Lot 3: Security Clearance Specialist Services Costs advice, estimates, negotiation and advocacy

Lots

Lot 1: General Costs Law Services; Lot 2: Clinical Negligence Specialist Services; Lot 3: Security Clearance Specialist Services

Who Can Apply

Suits costs law firms and costs lawyers with public sector litigation experience. Membership is fixed for the term, so others cannot join before 24 July 2027. Lot 3 needs personnel with SC-level security clearance, which is worth arranging before the re-tender.

Buyer Benefits

Legal costs can be a large share of litigation spend. Buyers value specialists who can reduce bills they pay, maximise costs they recover, and handle sensitive or security-cleared matters, all through a route that allows quick direct award. Specialist lots also match the type of claim.

Next Steps

Appointed suppliers should respond quickly to buyer competitions and record savings and recoveries. Others cannot join until the re-tender, so watch GCA's upcoming agreements for the RM6284 replacement, likely during 2027, and prepare evidence of costs outcomes, clinical negligence expertise and security clearances.

How Athena Can Help

The RM6284 successor is likely to be procured during 2027. Athena's framework entry support helps costs firms choose lots and prepare evidence. We also write the quality responses.

For appointed firms, our bid writing for legal services turns savings and recovery results into scored answers. Our public sector fee strategy helps set rates that win and still pay. We also compliance-check every response and run a Bid Health Check on drafts, so weak answers are fixed before the deadline.
