Dfi TRAM Road Asset Management Surfacing Framework B

Coming soon

Framework Description

Surfacing Framework B is a DfI Transport and Road Asset Management (TRAM) works framework for road resurfacing and related work in parts of Northern Ireland. It has an initial four-year term, with call-off contracts able to be extended under the framework terms, and is expected to deliver about £150 million of works in total. It has four area lots for works orders of £50,000 to £750,000, plus one project lot for schemes of £750,000 to £5 million.

Context & Use Case

TRAM uses the framework to run concurrent resurfacing schemes on the network in Belfast South, Coleraine and Limavady, Dungannon and Down. Area lot contractors deliver works orders in their area, while the project lot covers bigger schemes. Work includes mechanical and hand-laid asphalt, carriageway reshaping and the ancillary work needed to finish a scheme on a live road.

Who Can Apply

Suits surfacing contractors and civil engineering firms with asphalt plant or supply, paving gangs and traffic management capability in Northern Ireland. The framework is still being procured, so contractors must bid in this tender to get on; it cannot be joined afterwards. Larger firms may target the project lot as well as area lots.

Buyer Benefits

TRAM gets dedicated surfacing capacity in four areas plus a route for larger schemes, so the resurfacing programme can run several jobs at once. With around £150 million of work over four years, buyers need contractors who can keep quality consistent and disruption low. Delivery to programme and careful traffic management will matter.

Next Steps

Read Find a Tender notice 018492-2026 for the tender documents and deadlines. Choose which area lots you can resource locally and whether the project lot suits your scale. Prepare evidence of resurfacing schemes delivered, asphalt quality control, traffic management competence and plant availability. Price carefully across the £50,000 to £750,000 order range.
