Framework Description
The Road Asset Management Small Works Framework is a DfI Transport and Road Asset Management (TRAM) procurement for responsive and small-scale road maintenance in Northern Ireland. It will award eleven measured term contracts, one for each contract area, covering every council area in Northern Ireland. Work focuses on jobs below £50,000, from carriageway patching to grass cutting and traffic calming. TRAM published a preliminary market engagement notice in March 2026.
Context & Use Case
TRAM uses small works contractors to respond to defects and keep the network safe and tidy, from temporary pothole repairs to drainage jetting and vegetation control. The framework brings together work currently delivered through separate small scale and responsive works and environmental maintenance contracts. Small network improvements and traffic calming schemes also fall within the scope.

Smaller firms may find a single contract area a realistic first step.
