Framework Description
The East of England NHS Collaborative Procurement Hub's Appliance Prescription Management Service (APMS) framework provides services for managing prescriptions for stoma and continence appliances, together with clinical advice centres offering expert guidance. It is a single-lot framework, not a DPS, and ends on 6 November 2026 with no extension option. It was developed after a review of stoma care services in the East of England.
Context & Use Case
NHS trusts and other healthcare bodies use APMS to manage appliance prescriptions for patients with stomas or continence needs, aiming to improve patient experience and reduce waste from over-ordering. Patients and clinicians can also get advice from the provider's clinical advice centres, making the service easier to use for patients managing their own supplies at home.
Scope of Services
Management of appliance prescriptions, focusing on stoma and continence supplies Clinical advice centres giving expert guidance on appliance use Monitoring of prescription use to reduce waste Patient support services
Lots
Single lot
Who Can Apply
Suits appliance prescription management providers and dispensing appliance contractors with stoma and continence expertise and clinical advice capability. Applications for this framework are closed and it ends on 6 November 2026, so a replacement procurement is the next opportunity for new providers.
Buyer Benefits
Buyers want fewer wasted stoma and continence products and a better experience for patients, who often rely on these supplies every day. A specialist provider with clinical advice centres helps achieve both, and a framework lets trusts appoint one without a full tender.
Next Steps
With the framework ending on 6 November 2026, watch the hub's framework pages at eoecph.nhs.uk and Find a Tender for a replacement procurement. Prepare evidence of waste reduction, patient satisfaction and clinical governance, along with information governance and data protection arrangements.
