Mains Gas 192_27

Coming soon

Framework Description

Mains Gas (reference 192_27) is ESPO's successor framework for mains gas supply. It runs from 1 April 2027 to 31 March 2031 with no extension. It was procured under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, with contract award notice 2026/S 000-007588, and is accessed by direct award. It is listed as Coming soon because it starts on 1 April 2027; until then ESPO directs customers to the 192_23 framework.

Context & Use Case

Schools, academies, councils and other public bodies will use it from 1 April 2027 to buy mains gas without running their own tender. Until then, ESPO points customers to its 192_23 Mains Gas framework, so current users will move across when 192_27 starts. Direct award keeps the process simple for schools and smaller organisations.

Who Can Apply

Suits licensed gas shippers and suppliers. Although it is Coming soon, 192_27 has already been awarded, so the supplier list is fixed and new suppliers cannot join until ESPO re-tenders it, around 31 March 2031.

Buyer Benefits

Buyers get continuity of supply from 1 April 2027 through a framework ESPO has already awarded, with direct award keeping call-offs quick. They value smooth site transfers from 192_23, accurate billing and clear account management, with no break in supply at the changeover.

Next Steps

Read the 192_27 page on ESPO's website and contract award notice 2026/S 000-007588. If appointed, prepare for site transfers from 1 April 2027. If not, plan for the re-tender ahead of 31 March 2031 and look at other public sector energy frameworks.

How Athena Can Help

192_27 is awarded, so other suppliers cannot join before 2031. Athena's energy framework search can identify other public sector energy frameworks that are open now or due to open, and set out a long-term plan for the re-tender. When it comes, our bid planning help can build win themes, model your likely score against competing suppliers and write a strong submission. Our bid/no-bid pricing advice supports pricing and the bid/no-bid decision.
