Print Books (376E_24 Lot 2)

Framework Description

Print Books (reference 376E2_24) is Lot 2 of ESPO's 376E_24 library framework, supplying fiction and curriculum books and reference materials, mainly to local authority and school library services. It has two sub-lots, was procured under the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and is not a DPS. Its initial term runs from 1 November 2024 to 31 October 2026, with an option to extend to 31 October 2028.

Context & Use Case

Local authority library services and school library services use it to stock shelves with fiction, curriculum titles and reference books without running their own tender. Contracts can be placed by direct award or after further competition, so a library service can buy straight from a supplier for routine stock or compete a larger annual book fund.

Scope of Services

Lot 2.1: Fiction and Curriculum Books Lot 2.2: Reference Materials, Handbooks and Manuals

Lots

Lot 2.1 Fiction and Curriculum Books; Lot 2.2 Reference Materials, Handbooks and Manuals

Who Can Apply

Suits library suppliers and book wholesalers with the servicing and supply capacity library services need. Applications for this framework are closed, so book suppliers not already on it cannot join until ESPO re-procures, which will be after 31 October 2026 if the framework is not extended, or by 31 October 2028 if it is.

Buyer Benefits

Library services can buy fiction and curriculum stock and reference titles through one ESPO agreement, with discounts and service terms already agreed. Direct award suits routine replenishment, while further competition lets a service test discounts and servicing on a large book fund.

Next Steps

The initial term ends on 31 October 2026, so check ESPO's 376E2_24 page now to see whether the extension to 31 October 2028 has been taken up or a replacement is being procured. Appointed suppliers should prepare for further competitions on library book funds. Others should gather evidence of library supply contracts and servicing capability for the re-tender.

How Athena Can Help

Whether ESPO extends this framework or re-tenders it, Athena can get you ready. Our framework application support identifies the right sub-lot, prepares case studies of library supply contracts and checks compliance before submission.

For suppliers already on Lot 2, our bid management help sharpens further competition responses on discounts, servicing and delivery, and our public sector pricing advice keeps your discount levels competitive without eroding margin. If ESPO re-tenders rather than extends, we can also run a Bid Health Check on your draft before it goes in.
