Framework Description

KCS Procurement Services' Language Services framework is a national agreement for interpretation, translation, transcription and related services, open to public bodies across the UK, Channel Islands and Northern Ireland. It runs until 1 January 2028 and has no lots, covering face-to-face, telephone, video and digital channels. This is a conventional framework, not a DPS.

Context & Use Case

Councils, NHS trusts, emergency services, schools and third-sector partners use it to communicate with residents and patients who have limited English or sensory needs, and for specialist translation such as legal or medical documents. Typical needs include on-demand telephone and video interpreting, face-to-face appointments, translated letters and website localisation. Demand is steady and high-volume, so buyers look for providers who can cover many languages at short notice.

Scope of Services

Face-to-face, telephone, video and conference interpretation, including BSL Document, business, legal and medical translation Audio transcription and Braille Website translation and localisation Advisory and administrative support services

Who Can Apply

Suits language services providers, interpreter networks, translation agencies and transcription specialists with public sector experience and recognised quality standards. Applications for this framework are closed, so firms not appointed cannot join until KCS re-tenders, likely during 2027 ahead of 1 January 2028.

Buyer Benefits

Public bodies need interpreters quickly, sometimes within minutes, so a pre-tendered panel avoids delays. One route covering interpreting, translation, transcription and Braille means a single provider can meet different needs, and quality, safeguarding and data protection standards are already checked.

Next Steps

Look for the successor on Find a Tender and the KCS website during 2027. Prepare public sector references, interpreter vetting and qualification evidence, quality certification and response time data. Appointed suppliers should approach buyers ahead of contract renewals and show how quickly they can fill rare-language bookings.

How Athena Can Help

Language services tenders are often won on response times, interpreter quality and safeguarding. Athena's bid and quality writing brings those out clearly, with pricing that works across on-demand and booked services.

Ahead of the 2027 re-tender, our public sector bid preparation builds your evidence early, and our framework applications team finds other language services frameworks you can join now. We also run a Bid Health Check on draft answers so weak points are fixed before you submit.
