Winter Maintenance & Associated Services
Framework Description
KCS Procurement Services' Winter Maintenance & Associated Services framework is a national agreement for highways authorities and other public bodies, running until 31 August 2027. It has three lots: bulk salt, winter maintenance products, and gritting services. It is a traditional framework agreement set up by tender, not a Dynamic Purchasing System, so its supplier list is fixed for the term.
Context & Use Case
Highways authorities use it to stock salt barns before winter, while schools, NHS sites, councils and other estate managers use it to buy grit bins and products or contract gritting of car parks and footpaths. Demand peaks in autumn as buyers prepare for the season, and gritting contracts must cope with sudden cold snaps.

Who Can Apply
Salt suppliers, winter products distributors and gritting contractors with public sector clients. Applications for this framework are closed, so new suppliers cannot join it. It ends on 31 August 2027 with no extension option, so the next chance for firms not already appointed is the framework KCS tenders to replace it.
