Pumps and Drainage Framework

Live

Framework Description

The Pumps and Drainage Framework from the National Framework Partnership (NFP), also described as the Sewage Treatment and Pumps Framework, provides specialist pumping, drainage and sewage services through a ranked list of pre-qualified SME suppliers. It is a four-year framework running from 1 June 2023 to 30 June 2027. Clients can direct-select or run a mini-competition. It does not admit new suppliers during its term.

Context & Use Case

Local authorities, health bodies and schools with their own sewage treatment plants or pumping stations use it to keep those assets working. Typical call-offs include servicing pumps, inspecting ageing infrastructure, emergency repairs after a failure and upgrades to improve efficiency. A ranked list gives clients a quick default supplier when something breaks.

Scope of Services

Design, installation and maintenance of sewage treatment plants Supply and maintenance of sewage pumps and equipment Emergency repairs to sewage systems Inspection and assessment of existing infrastructure Efficiency upgrades Decommissioning and disposal of obsolete equipment

Who Can Apply

Suits SME specialists in pumps, drainage and sewage treatment with public sector experience. Applications for the ranked list are closed, so other firms cannot join until the re-tender, likely around June 2027.

Buyer Benefits

A sewage or pump failure is an environmental and public health risk, so buyers value fast access to specialists. A ranked list of SME suppliers supports quick direct awards in an emergency, while mini-competitions suit planned upgrades and longer maintenance programmes where price and method can be compared.

Next Steps

Appointed suppliers should show emergency response capacity and maintenance planning clearly. Others should prepare for the re-tender ahead of 30 June 2027: check the NFP framework page for the notice, and gather case studies on treatment plant and pumping station work, with emergency response data.

How Athena Can Help

The re-tender before June 2027 is the main route in for SME drainage and pump specialists. Athena's framework registration work can plan your application, write the narrative responses and prepare case studies and certificates.

On the current framework, ranking shapes how much direct-award work each supplier sees, so our competitor analysis and bid writing aims to maximise your tender score. Our public sector bidding consultancy also supports direct tenders for pumping and drainage work.
