Vegetation Management Framework 2026-2030 Mid Wales

Live

Framework Description

Natural Resources Wales's Vegetation Management Framework 2026-2030 Mid Wales (reference NRW62906) gives NRW's Mid Wales Land Management teams contractors for specialist vegetation cutting, mainly on NRW-managed land. It has four regional lots, each with several appointed contractors, and was awarded in August 2026. The contracts were signed on 21 September 2026 and run to 20 September 2030, with no extension. Each lot has an estimated value of £225,000 excluding VAT.

Context & Use Case

NRW land teams call on the framework to keep sites safe, compliant and presentable, including car parks, trail heads, flood and reservoir embankments, forest road verges, promoted walks, public highways and SSSI and NNR sites. The work calls for tractor-mounted flails and shears, excavator flails, Reform or Aebi Robo mowers, wheeled excavators and a small amount of chainsaw work.

Scope of Services

Lot 1: Mid North - East Lot 2: Mid North - West Lot 3: Cambrian Uplands Lot 4: Brecon Beacons Tractor and flail, shears and excavator flail cutting Reform and Aebi Robo mower work Wheeled excavator and chainsaw work

Lots

Lot 1 - Mid North-East; Lot 2 - Mid North-West; Lot 3 - Cambrian Uplands; Lot 4 - Brecon Beacons (maximum three lots per bidder)

Who Can Apply

The framework is awarded and applications are closed, so contractors who are not on it cannot join until NRW re-tenders, likely around September 2030. It suits vegetation and land management contractors in Mid Wales with tractor-mounted flails, slope mowers and excavators, who should prepare for that re-tender or look for subcontract work.

Buyer Benefits

Several contractors in each regional lot give NRW local cover and a fallback when one firm is busy, so embankments, trails and visitor sites stay safe without a separate procurement for each job. Specialist slope mowers and excavator flails cover ground that standard grounds maintenance contractors cannot.

Next Steps

Appointed contractors should keep machinery, operator certificates and site records ready for call-offs in their lots. Others should read NRW's award and contract details notices on Find a Tender, watch Sell2Wales and Find a Tender for NRW land management work in other regions, and build case studies of embankment, verge and protected-site cutting before the 2030 re-tender.

How Athena Can Help

With this framework awarded until 2030, Athena can help in two ways. For appointed contractors, our bid management support sharpens method statements and pricing for any call-offs NRW runs as competitions.

For contractors outside it, our framework pipeline service finds other land management and vegetation frameworks in Wales that are open or due to open, and our public sector bid planning builds the case studies, equipment evidence and lot strategy you will need when NRW re-tenders this one.
