Framework Description
NEPO207 Construction Works is NEPO's framework for building projects for public bodies in the North East and across the UK. It has ten lots split by value and geography, from projects up to £1m in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and Durham to national development work programmes up to £50m. It runs to 31 May 2027, with an option to extend to 31 May 2029.
Context & Use Case
Councils, schools, universities and other public bodies use NEPO207 for new build and refurbishment. Buyers can direct award or hold a further competition, and can appoint contractors in one or two stages, including early contractor involvement where design is still developing. The contractor base ranges from small local firms to large national companies.

Who Can Apply
Suits building contractors of every size, from local firms in the sub-£1m lots to national contractors for large programmes. Applications for NEPO207 are closed, so contractors not appointed cannot join until it is re-tendered. That could begin around May 2027 or, if extended, before May 2029.
Buyer Benefits
Buyers can choose direct award for speed or further competition for price, and use two-stage appointment and early contractor involvement on complex schemes. Value-banded regional lots keep smaller projects with local contractors, which supports local economic and social value goals.
Next Steps
Appointed contractors should focus on further competitions and early contractor involvement opportunities, with case studies by sector and value. Others should watch for the re-procurement, which may start before May 2027 unless NEPO uses the extension, and decide now which value band and area to target.
