Framework Description
NHS Commercial Solutions' Digital Dictation, Speech/Voice Recognition, Outsourced Transcription and Associated Services framework gives NHS organisations and other public bodies a route to clinical documentation technology and services. It runs to 22 January 2027, with two 12-month extension options that could take it to January 2029. Four lots cover a products and services catalogue, dictation solutions, outsourced transcription and fully managed services.
Context & Use Case
Trusts use it to move clinicians from tapes and typing pools to digital dictation, to add speech recognition that turns dictated letters into text, or to send transcription work to external providers when in-house capacity runs short. Larger organisations can take a managed service covering the whole workflow. Common drivers are documentation turnaround, administrative staffing gaps and integration with existing systems.

Who Can Apply
Suits dictation and speech recognition software vendors, resellers, transcription bureaux and managed service providers with NHS deployments. It is closed to new applications. A re-tender may come around 22 January 2027, or later if the extensions are used, so check the framework page for which applies.
Buyer Benefits
Buyers can choose the model that fits their workforce: buy software outright, outsource transcription, or hand the whole process to a managed provider, all under one agreement. Pre-agreed terms shorten the time from business case to deployment, and competition between approved suppliers keeps licence and transcription pricing keen.
Next Steps
If you are appointed, prepare for further competitions with case studies showing turnaround and accuracy gains. If not, check the framework page to see whether NHS Commercial Solutions has taken up the first extension beyond 22 January 2027, and watch its pipeline for the replacement. Use the time to build NHS references for the lot you plan to target.
