Framework Description
Audio Visual Solutions and Integrated Operating Theatres 2 is NHS Shared Business Services' framework for integrated theatre systems and wider audio-visual technology in healthcare. Six lots cover integrated operating theatres, MDT and conferencing rooms, TV and AV products, digital signage, bedside entertainment and patient check-in devices. Applications for this framework are closed, and it runs to 16 November 2027, with no extension.
Context & Use Case
The NHS loses over £300 million a year to missed appointments, and empty theatres are a large part of that. Trusts use integrated theatre systems to share up-to-date patient information between departments, cut set-up times and improve communication during surgery. The other lots support MDT meetings, patient information screens, bedside media and self check-in.

Who Can Apply
It suits theatre integration specialists, AV integrators, digital signage and patient entertainment providers, and check-in kiosk suppliers with healthcare experience. Applications for this framework are closed, so firms not appointed cannot join until the re-tender, likely around 16 November 2027.
Buyer Benefits
Integrated theatres connect directly to hospital equipment and information systems, so lists can start on time and staff have patient histories to hand. Buying theatre, conferencing and patient-facing technology through one framework helps trusts keep systems compatible across a hospital.
Next Steps
Appointed suppliers should prepare for call-offs with theatre integration case studies, uptime data and clinical engagement plans. Others should prepare for the re-tender: the framework ends on 16 November 2027 with no extension, so watch the framework page on the NHS SBS site and build NHS installation references for your chosen lots.
How Athena Can Help
For appointed AV and theatre integrators, Athena's bid development service builds call-off responses that link your solution to theatre productivity and patient experience, with pricing modelled against rival integrators.
If you are aiming at the 2027 re-tender, our framework onboarding support helps choose lots and prepares evidence ahead of time, and our bid/no-bid decision support keeps your effort on the trust opportunities you can realistically win, rather than spreading bid resources across every lot.
