Framework Description
Design, Furniture and Appliances 2 is NHS Shared Business Services' framework for furniture, interiors, appliances and equipment hire for NHS sites. Its 23 lots range from workplace consultancy and fit-out to bariatric furniture, ward equipment, white goods, smart vending, generator hire and a one stop shop. It supports buying, hiring, reuse and repair, and runs to 7 February 2028 with no extension.
Context & Use Case
Many hospitals have outdated furniture and poorly used spaces. Trusts use the framework to refit offices and front-of-house areas, furnish wards and challenging environments, add acoustic treatments that create calmer spaces for patients, or hire heaters, dehumidifiers and tools for short-term needs. Low-energy products and reusable or recyclable packaging support the NHS net zero 2040 target and the Greening Government Commitments.

It suits furniture manufacturers, interior designers and fit-out contractors, appliance suppliers, vending and water cooler providers, and hire companies. Applications for this framework are closed, so firms not appointed cannot join until the re-tender, likely around 7 February 2028.
