Security Services, CCTV and VSS

Framework Description

Security Services, CCTV and VSS (SBS10502) is NHS Shared Business Services' framework for physical and electronic security across the NHS and wider public sector. Five lots cover guarding, security design and assessment, CCTV and video surveillance systems, lone working and staff call systems, and security alarms, fire alarms and access control. It is a traditional framework, not a DPS, running from 14 November 2024 to 13 November 2028.

Context & Use Case

Hospitals and other public sites use it to protect staff, patients and property, from staffed guarding and lone-worker devices to maintained CCTV, alarm and access control systems. Buyers can take a single service or a bundled solution, specify to British standards and Health Technical Memoranda, and call off through direct award or further competition.

Scope of Services

Lot 1: Guarding services Lot 2: Security design and assessment Lot 3: Supply, installation and maintenance of CCTV and VSS Lot 4: Supply and monitoring of lone working / staff call systems Lot 5: Supply, installation and maintenance of security alarms, fire alarms and access control systems

Who Can Apply

It suits manned guarding companies, security consultants, CCTV and VSS installers, lone-worker system providers, and alarm and access control specialists. Appointments were made at award and no suppliers are added mid-term, so others should prepare for a re-tender likely around 13 November 2028.

Buyer Benefits

Capped rates and controlled price reviews from year two help estates teams budget across multi-year security contracts and avoid sudden cost rises. Buyers can combine guarding with technology from pre-approved suppliers, and alignment with British standards and Health Technical Memoranda gives assurance that installations suit healthcare sites.

Next Steps

Appointed suppliers should prepare further competition material on staff licensing, response times, system maintenance and lone-worker escalation. Others cannot join before November 2028: win direct NHS and council security contracts to build references, and check the SBS10502 page on the NHS SBS site for re-tender notices.

How Athena Can Help

Buyers on this framework can bundle guarding with technology, so appointed suppliers need answers that cover both. For security suppliers on SBS10502, Athena's security sector bid writing produces further competition answers on licensing, response and maintenance, and our pricing models factor in the framework's capped rates and price review provisions.

If you are not yet appointed, our help bidding for public contracts targets direct trust and council security work now, and early framework preparation gets your case studies, policies and certificates ready for the lots you want in 2028.
