Framework Description

NWUPC's Electronic Components & Associated Products framework (LAB3152 NW) supplies electronic parts, tools, test equipment and batteries to member institutions. It started on 1 July 2024 and runs until 30 June 2027, with an option to extend by 12 months to 30 June 2028, and is split into five lots, including a multi-purpose lot for buyers who want one supplier across categories. It is a fixed-term framework with a set supplier list, not a DPS. This framework is used by NWUPC, SUPC, Crescent Purchasing and APUC.

Context & Use Case

Universities buy electronic components for engineering and physics teaching, student projects, research labs and technical workshops, as well as for estates maintenance. Development boards, fixings, oscilloscopes and other test equipment, and large volumes of batteries are routine purchases, so departments and stores teams use the framework to order quickly from approved suppliers at agreed prices.

Scope of Services

Lot 1: Electronic components, including development boards Lot 2: Tools and fixings Lot 3: Test and measurement equipment Lot 4: Rechargeable and single-use batteries Lot 5: Multi-purpose lot

Lots

Lot 1 Electronic Components inc Dev Boards; Lot 2 Tools and Fixings; Lot 3 Test and Measurement Equipment; Lot 4 Rechargeable & Single Use Batteries; Lot 5 Multi-Purpose Lot

Who Can Apply

It suits electronic component distributors, test and measurement suppliers, tool and fixings distributors and battery suppliers, and broad-range distributors for the multi-purpose lot. Applications for this framework are closed, so suppliers not appointed should prepare for the re-tender expected around 30 June 2027.

Buyer Benefits

Technical staff can buy from catalogues they already use, at framework prices and with no need for separate quotes. Separate lots let them go to a specialist for test equipment or batteries, while the multi-purpose lot suits stores teams who want a single account covering most of their needs.

Next Steps

Appointed suppliers should promote their catalogues, punch-out or e-procurement links and delivery options to member stores and technical teams. Others should review the five lots on the NWUPC framework page, pick the ones that fit their range, and prepare pricing, catalogue data and education references for the re-tender ahead of 30 June 2027.

How Athena Can Help

Choosing the right lots is half the battle on a five-lot product framework. Athena's bid/no-bid advice for distributors weighs each lot against your range and margins, and our framework registration team prepares the selection responses, catalogue evidence and policies ahead of the re-tender.

Our bid pricing models then help you set basket prices that score well on cost without eroding the margin on high-volume, low-value lines such as batteries and fixings.
