Firefighting Equipment and Associated Services

Live

Framework Description

Firefighting Equipment and Associated Services (reference EFM2054 NE) is a university consortia framework covering fire safety equipment, inspections, detection and suppression systems for member institutions. It is a fixed-term agreement, not a DPS, running from 1 May 2024 until 30 April 2028 with no extension. Four lots separate equipment and maintenance, inspections and consultancy, detection, alarm and suppression systems, and a complete solution covering all of these. This framework is used by NWUPC and SUPC.

Context & Use Case

Universities need extinguishers serviced, fire risk assessments kept current, staff trained and alarm and suppression systems maintained across teaching buildings, laboratories and residences. Estates and health and safety teams use the framework to call off qualified providers for each of these tasks, keeping compliance work moving without separate tenders, or appoint one provider for a complete solution.

Scope of Services

Lot 1: Fire safety equipment and maintenance Lot 2: Fire safety inspections, fire risk assessment, consultancy and training Lot 3: Fire detection, alarms and suppression systems Lot 4: Fire safety, fire alarms, suppression systems and associated services (complete solution)

Lots

Lot 1 Fire Safety Equipment and Maintenance; Lot 2 Fire Safety Inspections, Fire Risk Assessment, Consultancy and Fire Safety Training; Lot 3 Fire Detection, Alarms and Suppression Systems; Lot 4 Fire Safety, Fire Alarms, Suppression Systems and Associated Services Complete Solution

Who Can Apply

It suits fire equipment suppliers, fire risk assessors and consultants, fire alarm and detection installers and suppression system specialists with education estate experience, plus firms able to offer a complete fire safety solution. Applications for this framework are closed, so others should prepare for the re-tender expected around 30 April 2028.

Buyer Benefits

Fire safety failures carry serious legal and human consequences, so buyers want accredited providers they can rely on. The four-lot structure lets them use specialists for alarms or suppression systems and a consultant for risk assessments, while framework terms simplify planned maintenance across many buildings.

Next Steps

Appointed providers should work with member estates and safety teams on maintenance schedules and remedial work. Others should review the four lots on the NWUPC framework page, check that their accreditations match, and build case studies from residences and laboratories ready for the re-tender before 30 April 2028.

How Athena Can Help

Fire safety frameworks reward accredited providers who can evidence quality. For the re-tender, Athena's help with framework submissions selects the right lots and prepares accreditations, policies and case studies.

If you already hold a place, our bid writing and reviews strengthen your responses for larger call-offs such as alarm upgrades, with a Bid Health Check before each submission, and our public sector tender strategy helps you choose which other fire safety opportunities to pursue across the public estate.
