Bangor University Minor Works Framework (£100k To £1m Excl VAT)

Live

Framework Description

Bangor University's Minor Works Framework covers capital projects valued between £100,000 and £1 million excluding VAT. It has three lots, Electrical, Mechanical, and Buildings and Grounds, with four contractors appointed to each. Bids were due in June 2026, and the framework is live until 31 August 2030, with no extension option.

Context & Use Case

Prifysgol Bangor uses the framework for campus improvement and facilities projects too large for routine maintenance but well below major capital scale: electrical upgrades, mechanical plant and HVAC replacements, building fabric works and grounds projects. With four contractors per lot, the university has a small, known group to call on for each discipline across its estate.

Scope of Services

Lot 1: Electrical works and systems Lot 2: Mechanical works, including HVAC Lot 3: Buildings and grounds Projects from £100,000 to £1 million excluding VAT

Lots

Lot 1 - Electrical; Lot 2 - Mechanical; Lot 3 - Buildings and Grounds

Who Can Apply

Suits electrical, mechanical and building contractors with experience of working on occupied campuses or similar public buildings. The tender closed in June 2026 and the framework is live, so contractors not appointed cannot join until the university re-tenders, likely around 2030.

Buyer Benefits

A small panel per lot gives the university contractors who get to know its estate, which can shorten mobilisation on each project. Projects in the £100,000 to £1 million band can be placed with contractors already appointed, without a full tender each time, and each discipline has its own specialists.

Next Steps

Appointed contractors should build a relationship with the estates team, learn its project pipeline, and record delivery performance on each job for future scoring. Others should look for works opportunities at other Welsh universities and public bodies, and build campus case studies and social value proposals ahead of the re-tender, likely before 31 August 2030.
