Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council

Residential And Nursing Care Home Beds Framework

Coming soon

Framework Description

Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council is procuring a framework for residential and nursing care home beds. It will be used to place adults with assessed care and support needs, including people with complex needs, in homes that deliver personal or nursing care to Care Quality Commission standards. Placements are made for individuals nominated by the Council.

Context & Use Case

Solihull's adult social care teams need a reliable supply of beds when a person's assessed needs mean they can no longer be supported at home. The framework will give the Council a pool of homes it can call on for nominated residents, with complex cases a particular focus, and helps it meet its duty to offer suitable care options within the local market.

Who Can Apply

Suits care home operators with CQC-registered residential or nursing beds and experience of complex needs. Solihull has published a preliminary market engagement notice, so the tender has not opened yet: providers should take part in the engagement and prepare to bid when the procurement launches.

Buyer Benefits

A framework lets the Council place people faster, on agreed terms and quality standards, instead of negotiating spot purchases home by home. Commissioners gain clearer oversight of fees and quality, and confidence that homes taking complex cases have the skills and registration to do so safely.

Next Steps

Read Solihull's preliminary market engagement notice on Find a Tender and take part in the engagement. Prepare current CQC ratings, your fee structure, occupancy and staffing data, and case studies of complex placements. Decide whether to offer residential beds, nursing beds or both, and how many beds you can realistically commit.

How Athena Can Help

Care home frameworks are scored on quality as well as price, and Solihull's is still at market engagement, so there is time to plan. Athena's bid support team can plan your bid early, build win themes around your CQC record and write the quality responses, with a compliance check before submission.

Our public sector bid advice helps you set bed rates that win and remain sustainable, and our framework pipeline planning maps other care frameworks and dynamic markets you could join while this one is prepared.
