Electrical Works

Framework Description

South East Consortium's Electrical Works framework gives public sector organisations a pool of pre-approved electrical contractors for electrical renewals, Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and repair work. It is a fixed framework rather than a DPS, runs until 14 December 2027, and is free for any publicly funded body to use, with SEC support through the procurement.

Context & Use Case

Housing, healthcare and education bodies use it to keep electrical installations safe and compliant: running EICR testing programmes across their stock, renewing or upgrading ageing installations, and fixing the faults that testing uncovers. Calling off from pre-vetted contractors saves them running a separate tender for each testing or renewal programme.

Who Can Apply

Suits electrical contractors with a track record of testing, rewires and repairs in occupied public buildings or social housing. Applications for this framework are closed, so contractors not appointed cannot join until SEC re-tenders it, likely around 14 December 2027.

Buyer Benefits

Electrical safety testing is a regulatory priority for landlords, and remedial work often follows straight on from testing. A single framework covering testing, renewals and repairs lets buyers move from inspection to fix without a fresh procurement, using contractors already checked for competence.

Next Steps

Appointed contractors should earn repeat call-offs by reporting EICR results clearly and closing out remedials quickly. Others should prepare for the re-tender expected around December 2027: gather testing volumes, rewire case studies, competent person scheme membership and health and safety records, and watch SEC's compliance frameworks page.

How Athena Can Help

Electrical frameworks are competitive on price, so quality answers have to earn their marks. For contractors already on SEC's panel, Athena's electrical bid writing and Bid Health Check sharpen call-off responses, and our public sector pricing guidance helps you price testing and remedials to win.

For the December 2027 re-tender, our framework application team prepares your evidence early and spots other electrical frameworks that are open to new contractors now.
