Framework Description
SUPC's Floor Coverings framework covers the supply, fitting and maintenance of flooring across member universities' buildings. It is a single-lot agreement including carpet and carpet tiles, vinyl and sheet flooring, resin and specialist floors, and maintenance and renovation of existing floors. It runs until 31 October 2028 with no extension, so it has two years left to run.
Context & Use Case
Estates teams use it for refurbishments of teaching rooms, offices and student residences, summer turnaround work in halls, and specialist floors in areas such as laboratories where resin flooring is needed. Work is often timed for vacations when buildings are empty. Maintenance and renovation in scope let them extend the life of existing floors rather than replace them.

Who Can Apply
Suits flooring contractors and specialist installers able to supply and fit several floor types and to work in occupied buildings. No new contractors can be added before the re-tender, expected around 31 October 2028.
Buyer Benefits
Universities get flooring contractors on agreed rates, so refurbishment programmes can start without a tender each time. One agreement covering carpet, vinyl and resin means a single contractor can handle a whole building, and maintenance services help them get more life from existing floors, which supports sustainability goals.
Next Steps
Appointed contractors should prepare for refurbishment call-offs with case studies of quick turnarounds in residences and teaching buildings. Others should look at direct university and wider public sector flooring tenders now, and prepare for the re-tender before 31 October 2028 with references, manufacturer approvals and environmental evidence.
