Framework Description
The GLA Architecture and Urbanisation Framework 4, procured by Transport for London, supplies architecture, urban design and placemaking expertise to the GLA Group and other eligible public bodies. It is split into ten lots covering spatial policy, sustainable cities, high streets, public realm, housing and transport-related design. Awarded following notice 034539-2023 on Find a Tender, it runs until 1 March 2027.
Context & Use Case
The GLA, TfL and other London public bodies use the framework to commission design and research work, from town centre strategies and public realm schemes to small sites housing and development over stations. Ten specialist lots let buyers go straight to practices with the right expertise, whether they need a research study, a high street plan or a station development scheme.

Who Can Apply
Suits architecture, urban design and landscape practices, from small studios to large firms, with public sector placemaking experience. Applications for this framework are closed, so practices not appointed cannot join now; the next opportunity is the successor procurement expected around its 1 March 2027 end date.
Buyer Benefits
Buyers across London get design teams already tested for quality and specialism, so they can start strategy and design work without a full tender. Lots focused on high streets, small sites housing and station development match the GLA's priorities, and the mix of practices gives buyers access to emerging studios as well as established names.
Next Steps
With the term ending on 1 March 2027, appointed practices should push to secure commissions now and record outcomes for future case studies. Practices hoping to join should prepare for the successor framework: pick target lots, assemble London placemaking projects and team CVs, and watch TfL and GLA notices on Find a Tender for the next procurement.
