Treaty Reinsurance Framework

Coming soon

Framework Description

UK Export Finance's Treaty Reinsurance Framework will appoint a single specialist reinsurance broker to place treaties that support UKEF's export credit agency activities, separate from its broking requirement for credit and political risk. UKEF expects total spend above £5 million over five years, with no guarantee of spend. It published pipeline and preliminary market engagement notices on Find a Tender in March 2026.

Context & Use Case

As the UK's export credit agency, UKEF carries risk across the export credit portfolio it supports. Treaty reinsurance transfers part of that risk to the reinsurance market. Using one appointed broker gives UKEF a consistent approach to market, from structuring and pricing treaties to renewals and claims support. The broker's role is central to how UKEF manages that exposure.

Who Can Apply

Suits reinsurance brokers with export credit, credit and political risk treaty experience and strong reinsurer relationships. The framework has not yet been tendered, so brokers should engage now and prepare to bid; UKEF will set exact eligibility criteria in the competition documents.

Buyer Benefits

A single broker who knows UKEF's portfolio can present its risks consistently to reinsurers year after year, which supports capacity and pricing. UKEF values specialist knowledge of export credit risk, clear reporting and the market reach to secure cover on its terms.

Next Steps

Read the engagement notice on the Find a Tender record (ocds-h6vhtk-067436) and take part in any market engagement UKEF runs. Then prepare for the competition: evidence of export credit and political risk treaty placements, government or export credit agency clients, reporting standards and your approach to reinsurer relationships. Values and dates may still change.
