United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory

Fabrication And Machining Framework

Coming soon

Framework Description

The United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory is developing a fabrication and machining framework to give it access to suitably qualified engineering suppliers. It will cover precision machining, coded welding, specialist fabrication, component manufacture and repair, with associated quality, inspection and documentation. The framework will have several lots and serve both nuclear and non-nuclear requirements. Pre-market engagement was published under notice 022527-2026.

Context & Use Case

UKNNL needs precision components and repairs for its nuclear research and industrial work, often to tight tolerances and with full traceability. A multi-lot structure will let it match the work to suppliers with the right quality standards, using nuclear-qualified suppliers where needed and wider industrial suppliers for non-nuclear components. Traceability and inspection records are part of the service, not an extra.

Who Can Apply

Suits precision engineering firms, fabricators and coded welding specialists, from nuclear supply chain businesses to general industrial suppliers. The framework is not yet tendered, so firms get on by bidding when UKNNL releases the tender.

Buyer Benefits

UKNNL gets quality-assured suppliers ready for precision work, avoiding repeated qualification checks. Separate nuclear and non-nuclear requirements mean it can pay for nuclear-grade assurance only where it is needed, while still drawing on a wider industrial supply base. Buyers look for suppliers who can keep documentation complete and on time.

Next Steps

Read pre-market engagement notice 022527-2026 on Find a Tender and watch for the tender notice and full lot structure. Gather your quality certifications, coded welder qualifications, inspection capability and traceability records, plus case studies of precision work for nuclear and general industrial customers, and decide early which lots to target.

How Athena Can Help

Athena can help engineering suppliers build a strong UKNNL bid ahead of release. Our technical bid writing turns your quality systems and welding qualifications into scored evidence, with pricing models that win.

We also give early tender planning advice on which lots to target, and our nuclear supply chain registrations help you get on other relevant frameworks. We also run a compliance check on the full submission before it is sent.
