Provision Of A Framework Agreement For External Research And Innovation Grant Writing

Live

Framework Description

The University of Glasgow's framework for external research and innovation grant writing (PURCH2731) gives its researchers access to specialist consultants who help develop competitive funding proposals. The framework runs until 20 April 2028, with an option to extend for two further 12-month periods to 20 April 2030. It gives researchers specialist support beyond what internal research offices can provide.

Context & Use Case

Researchers across the university compete for funding from research councils, innovation programmes and other external funders. The framework lets departments bring in experienced grant writers to strengthen proposals, from shaping the case for support to reviewing drafts, without running a separate procurement each time a deadline looms. Support can also cover budget justification and innovation partnerships.

Who Can Apply

Suits grant writing consultancies and independent consultants with a track record of winning research council and innovation funding for universities. The framework is Live and applications are closed, so consultants not appointed cannot join until the university re-tenders, likely around April 2028 or April 2030.

Buyer Benefits

Funding success rates matter to the university's research income and reputation, so it values consultants with proven wins and knowledge of specific funders. Using a framework gives departments quick access to that expertise, on agreed rates, when proposal deadlines are tight.

Next Steps

Appointed consultants should make themselves known to research offices and departments planning major bids. Others should gather evidence of funded proposals, funder expertise and success rates, and watch Public Contracts Scotland for the re-tender ahead of 20 April 2028. Keep a record of grant outcomes from appointed work, which will strengthen any future submission.
