Framework Description
YPO's Design, Supply and Installation of Outdoor Sports Surfaces and Activity Equipment framework (reference 1220) covers outdoor sports and play equipment for education and local authority use. Its seven lots include playground markings, multi-use games areas, pitches and surfaces, outdoor gyms and SEND equipment. Applications for this framework are closed, and it has an option to extend by two periods of 12 months.
Context & Use Case
Schools and academy trusts use it to refurbish playgrounds, add markings or build a multi-use games area. Councils use it for park play areas and outdoor gyms. Separate lots for educational and recreational equipment let each type of buyer go to suppliers that know their setting.

Who Can Apply
Designers, manufacturers and installers of play equipment, surfacing, markings, MUGAs and outdoor fitness or SEND equipment. Because applications for this framework are closed, suppliers outside it cannot join now. They should prepare for the re-tender, the timing of which depends on whether YPO uses its two 12-month extensions.
Buyer Benefits
Schools get design and installation in one purchase, which matters when they lack in-house estates staff. A dedicated SEND lot helps buyers find suppliers with accessible and specialist equipment, and having surfaces, markings and equipment on one framework means a whole playground scheme can be bought through a single route.
Next Steps
Suppliers on 1220 should prepare design visuals, safety standard certificates and installation programmes for school holiday windows. Others should check the YPO 1220 page for the end date and any extension, then gather evidence such as play safety inspections, surfacing test results and photos of completed school and park projects.
