Framework Description
YPO's Engineering Inspection and Insurance Services framework (reference 1290) covers statutory engineering inspection, which authorities can buy on its own, directly or through their insurance broker. It is the first open framework YPO has procured under the Procurement Act 2023, so it can be reopened to new suppliers. It runs until 31 March 2028, with options to extend by two years and then four years, to 31 March 2034 at the latest.
Context & Use Case
Any public sector body can use it, including councils, schools, housing providers and fire services, to meet statutory inspection duties for plant and equipment. Buyers can award directly without competition or run a competitive selection. Inspection can be bought separately from insurance or arranged through the buyer's insurance broker.

Who Can Apply
Engineering inspection bodies and insurers that offer inspection services. As an open framework, it will reopen at points during its term, and new suppliers can apply at each reopening. Between reopenings, suppliers not on it cannot join.
Buyer Benefits
Separating inspection from insurance lets buyers choose the best inspection provider without having to change insurer. Direct award gives a quick route for routine inspection schedules, and reopening keeps the supplier pool competitive over a framework that could last until 2034.
Next Steps
Check the YPO 1290 page for the next reopening date. Prepare UKAS accreditation, inspector qualifications, coverage maps, reporting software details and pricing per inspection type. If you work with insurers or brokers, show how your service fits with their portfolios.
