Framework Description
YPO's Highway Electrical Installations DPS (reference 925) is a Dynamic Purchasing System for electrical work on highways and exterior spaces. It is organised into three categories, from NERS-accredited connections work through to festive illuminations. The DPS runs until 24 February 2029, with no extension beyond that date, and keeps admitting suppliers throughout its term.
Context & Use Case
Highway authorities and other public bodies responsible for streets and public spaces use the DPS when they need connections, exterior lighting or seasonal illuminations installed. Because it is a DPS rather than a framework that is closed to new applications, each requirement is awarded through a competition among the suppliers admitted to the relevant category, so new entrants can win work as soon as they are accepted.
Scope of Services
Category 1: Independent Connections Providers (NERS accredited) Category 2: Highway and exterior architectural lighting Category 3: Festive lighting and illuminations
Lots
Category 1 - Independent Connections Providers (NERS accredited); Category 2 - Highway and Exterior Architectural Lighting; Category 3 - Festive Lighting and Illuminations
Who Can Apply
Electrical contractors working on highways and exterior spaces can apply to join while the DPS is open. Category 1 is limited to NERS-accredited independent connections providers; lighting installers and festive illuminations specialists fit Categories 2 and 3. Applicants must meet YPO's selection criteria for each category they choose.
Buyer Benefits
Highway and estates teams can go to competition quickly with a pool of contractors already checked, rather than advertising each lighting scheme or connection job. NERS accreditation in Category 1 gives buyers assurance on network connections work, and the festive category gives councils a ready route for seasonal displays with fixed deadlines.
Next Steps
Read the DPS documents on YPO's page (https://www.ypo.co.uk/frameworks-home/900296), confirm which categories match your work and gather your evidence, including NERS accreditation if you are applying for Category 1. Submit through YPO's tendering portal. Once admitted, watch for competitions in your categories; the DPS closes on 24 February 2029, so earlier entry means more chances to bid.
How Athena Can Help
Because the 925 DPS is still admitting suppliers, Athena can work on your application now: confirming which of the three categories fit, writing the selection responses and checking compliance before it goes in, all through our help getting onto DPSs.
Once you are admitted, each lighting or connections job is won through a competition. Our bid management support covers win themes and pricing for those call-offs, and our public sector bid consultancy helps you decide which competitions are worth chasing.
